    Side-lace Boots

I picked up these interesting SS-marked side-lace boots at the recent MAX show. Until I posted these same pics on the SS forum, I had never seen another pair. Now I know that there is at least one other pair in existence (thank you, Stefano! )

On the SS forum, it has been suggested that these boots have a "fallschirmjaeger connection." I personally do not believe so, but I would be interested to hear comments and observations from my para-collector friends.
What use these boots could have been designed for?

No connection to paratroopers, more like "speed-lace" than "side-lace"

The idea of having hooks on a boot for parachuting is a dangerous one. When Ias jumping in Holland in 2006 we had a guy get his speedlace hook caught in his suspension lines. I'm sure the Germans would have thought of that as well. Neat boots none the less.

I had one matching pair. No markings on mine, but 1000% matching.
Someone at the time told me they were part of Panzer equipment...the single lace was then supposed to be meant to be easy and fast to remove once the wearer was running from a tank in fire (gasoline). That's one story.
The other one, was that someone else told me they are pre war shoes, maybe pre IWW. But mine were not marked SS....Cannot comment on either version, sorry.
But certainly nothing to do with Fallschirmjaegers!

                  hello to all,
                  very nice boots !
IMHO used as SS tropical shoes!
often seen with original SS trop.items coming from CZEK!

here same stamp inside on rare SS trop.boots
                  and also outside like yours.

                    Hi mates,
I heard the same story it was used for tank crews...
                    Bye
