    RAD Officers Armband Opinions?

    Hi:
Had this around a while and decided to put it to the test.
It is not cotton. I think it is rayon. Kinda silky looking but little rougher than silk.
No tag or stamp. It is beautifully done up close, front and back. Late war ?
Will the experts please give me a + or - ? John

What you have there is actually an armband of the RLB or Reichsluftschutzbund (State Air Protection Corp).
Set up in 1933 as a branch of the Air Ministry and placed under the authority of the Luftwaffe in 1935, it ceased to exist in 1945.
During WW2 it performed air defence for the Reich.

Nice item and in my opinion I'd say thats a good armband, but I'm no expert so I'll let others confirm it for you.

      Cheers, Tony

Darn... Did I say RAD? Cr*p. It's frickin obvious it's RLB.
Thank you, any idea why it's not cotton? Thanks again, John

Rayon was in wide use in machine woven insignia even before the war. This one looks like a textbook original to me.

Thanks to everyone for their time. It's very nice looking and I like it. I have a few RLB stickpins included in the display here. Would love to get the belt buckle. Guess I'll keep it. John
