    Immediate postwar PO photos

    Hello,

I have always been convinced that 99% of police tunics in the collector's market have had their sleeve eagles replaced/resewn. Here are a couple of photos from German e-bay showing why. These guys have removed all of their national insignia on caps and tunics. I believe these are just postwar cops and customs officer. So when you see the extra holes in the cap lining or stitch holes on the sleeve don't panic.

    Post-War Photo

Thanks for posting Bill. Very interesting photos. You're right, some are still wearing collar tabs but no sleeve eagles. Also, I'm not accustomed to seeing police without the cap badges/insignia. Good photos!

    regards, Randy

        Nice. Necktie in state colors!

Yes no cap badges in the e-bay photos that's why I think just post war, they hadn't made the non-NS insignia yet.

Interesting photos ! My Uncle was a Captain US Army and worked with the Berlin Police in 1946/1947. I remember him telling me that all of them were former German Police and wore their war time uniforms ( minus insignia of course). What was interesting was that none of them had served in Berlin during the war. Tom

Bill, that 1st photo is great! What an interesting lot to study and with the tunics remaining with collar tabs and rank straps...that certainly makes a person wonder about the level of sleeve eagle replacement and also helps explain why there are a fair number of tunics that appear in the pictured form.
