I'm glad that you started this thread Ed!
I was going to start an NSKK cap thread but I'll just tag on to your posting.
Nice example btw!
I have several and I try to find/collect these in the branch colors of the
Western European foreign volunteers (Dutch + Belgium Walloon +Flemish + French)as shown below.
#4 still on the way to me from Austria and in Flemish (dark) green.
So I'll have all 4 major freiwilligen war time instituted nat'l farbes!
Of course these colors were also used by German nationals (prewar assigned district farbes).Attached FilesLast edited by NickG; 11-26-2008, 12:14 AM.

NSKK eagle
Has anybody seen examples of these caps with the triangular eagle placed CENTER ON THE FRONT of the cap?
This way giving it a more "armed forces" appearance. Apparently this was done based on some period images.Attached FilesLast edited by NickG; 11-25-2008, 09:39 PM.

Here's why I'm asking...This image posted by another WAF member earlier depics the 4 major foreign NSKK nationalities
in NSKK Luftwaffe service. The image comes from the Military museum in Brussels (which I have also visited on numerous occasions, so I'm taking the liberty to borrow this image)! Note the Walloon (Yellow eagle) NSKK cap!Attached FilesLast edited by NickG; 11-26-2008, 02:48 AM.

Close up. Note French (yellow farbe) NSKK side cap on display in Brussels with trianguar eagle devise placed
FRONT CENTER + added a LW cockade (in lieu of NSKK buttons) to give the cap a more "armed forces" appearance.
Any examples (real of photographic) out there?
Its a fact that the NSKK drivers, especially the ones in LW service wore a hodge podge of uniform insignia (mixed NSKK and LW)
so I don't find this example, as displayed in Brussel, to be a stretch... Thoughts?Sorry for the poor quality but you get the idea!Attached FilesLast edited by NickG; 11-26-2008, 02:00 PM.

Here's the red eagle cap displayed with an NSKK-Luftwaffe Dutch volunteer impression.
The cap would need a pip to match the coat in rank (=fixed).Attached FilesLast edited by NickG; 11-26-2008, 12:12 AM.
