    Schickle/Mayer IAB by Schickle?

My first Heer badge in over 30 years...There will be others!

If I did my homework correctly this is an early silvered tombac IAB of the "Schickle/Mayer" design but the catch (round stock with flat spot instead flat sheet metal) would lead me to beleive this is an Otto Schickle piece not a B. H. Mayer product right?

    Thanks for your help

          Hi JC,

No doubt for me a Schickle, nice example too.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thank you Tom. Do you know if there is a bronze version of this this variant?

              Hi JC

Nice early Schickle! Always prefere these wire catch variants above the sheet metal ones.

Bronze versions do exist, they are slightly harder to find.
              Kind regards,
              Giel

Thanks for the compliment and the insight Giel. I hope I can find a matching bronze to complete the set

                Best regards

                  Hi JC,

Yes, Schickles can be found in bronze, but they are few and far between. You have to be careful though, many purported bronze examples are simply silver one that have been cleaned up all their original silver finish leaving just the bronze base metal.

Here is a true bronze grade, from Rebelde's excellent collection.

                        ...and a common enough hinge.

...but an exceedingly uncommon catch as seen on that Destroyer and on the U-Boat badge which matches the Schickle catalog.
