Maybe a casting? Details look a bit soft, but convincing.

I will get some sharper/clearer pics in the morning, the ribbing is better than in these pics, but we will see... thanks Hank.

          Hello Van,

          This is my personal opinion...

I believe the Meybauer (L/13 or 7) EK1s all had a core and the "1939" is all wrong on your EK1. The 9's on your EK1 have the lower scroll ball touching the loop on the nine head: that never was the situation in the original Paul Meybauer EK1 core A or core B types.

Please wait for someone with more expertise than I for the final confirmation of authenticity.

          Kind Regards,
          Don_

That could be the imperfect result of the casting too.

Thanks, Don, I looked on the forums here and the only thing that caught my eye was the catch, I did not look closely at the date though I posted a pic of it... Ill have to re-look the fakes gallery and such... thanks for the info...

                Hello Van,

The book "The Iron Cross 1. Class" details the manufacturing process For the EK1 and it consists of a frame, a core, and a back plate with a pin assembly. If the EK1 in question is a casting, then something does not look right... ???

                Regards,
                Don_
