Great work! What unit liberated this town? You are doing a great service to future generations. Getting the stories is just as if not more important as the items. Get all you can before they are lost to time.
              Thanks for sharing, Scott

Thanks for your comments. I am getting more and more satisfaction out of collecting stories instead of helmets. The best of course is to have both the story and the helmet as in this case.

                  Great History

Keep Digg'n. Someones gotta get the history along with the relics otherwise there be some McDonalds or Hotel built over it. I support you all the way!! That's very respectable to preserve the history

                        Hello Jean-Loup

Unfortunate events ,which sadly happened a lot in August 1944 in France ,many other places too ,Oradour-sur-Glanes et Tulles ,amongst others. Many of these event were caused by the "Resistant de la derniere heure" and they did far more harm indirectly to the French than against the German.
My Dad grew up during the war and witnessed few things himself.
Great of you to share these unfortunate events pre liberation of august 44.
                        Best Regards
                        Pierre-Yves
