    Police • Schutzpolizei M43 Cap

Schutzpolizei M43. I don't know why a metal badge was used instead of a cloth Eagle? (Perhaps it has to do with the time frame, or just the preference of the wearer?)

Dave, that hat reminds me of a west german hat, not to fond of the sweat diamond , just my opinion...

That cap looks really familiar for some reason??? I'd have to agree with Joe, it's West German. Looks aged and all, although when it's flipped over that hard plastic round "bead" where the cloth meets the liner really jumps out at me. Makes me think I saw this one or one just like it before. There has also been some prior discussion about branch piped M43's when they should have not been piped for braches. I'll have to search for those threads.

                      Post War - West German Cap....CORRECTION (!)

Post War - West German Cap....

Thanks Guys... You have the Eagle's eyes for these items!
Glad just to be in your company - still learning.

I'd better chalk this one up to being a Post War - West German Cap....

(Were the Schutzpolizei green piped, like this one? or
is this 'made up' to look this way?)

                      Many Thanks.... Dave / dblmed

Learning has never stopped for me in this hobby, although at times I seriously believe the more I learn the less I know!

About the only period examples of green piped caps like this that I remember offhand were the bergmützen owned by Marcus (see below link) and Ernst also posted another example. I'll have to see what I have for postwar comparison photos.

Not the best photos, although the following are some collected of postwar examples.
