    My favorite SS Fez

    Here are some pics of my FEZ. I worked long and hard to bring you some artistic shots. Hope you like. I've x'd out swazis so the easily offended can chill and enjoy also.

    What I know about Fez;
    Looks like tassle has been reinforced or re-attached.
    Vet bring back with ink pen "souvenir" i.d. label of where it was found.
    This one has faint remnants of white "size" stamp, as can be seen in pics.
    Black thread that once attached tassles to side of cap not present. no signs it ever was there, but that would be hard to detect.
    Thread attaching sweatband is gone in some places, but mostly there and holdingstrong. Cap is no longer being set on this edge, but supported in a way that keeps this edge from any more abrasion.
    No mothing whatsoever.

    If you have any comments or qustions, please post, or P.M. me.
    Also, maybe this would be a good thread to post your own Fez, please feel free to do so.

              Headgear

              They make the finest Headgear in the World, IMO. John, you need that set-up for your open Topped Benzo.

                  Great Fez man! Though I didn't know that Ahmed the dead terrorist was originally with the SS, great shot of him wearing the piece, and his byline fits..."Silence! I kill you."
                  Cheers, Steve

                    Good question Mil,

                    But I'm not sure if any of the Dachau fezzes ever did, my guess would be probably not..... I mean what would the label say? "Made in Dachau by Slave Labor"?
                    I don't know, maybe some other info, like fiber blend?

                    There's got to be some one here that can answer that 100%, but not me.

                    Maybe they'll post the answer here.

                    Regards,
                    John

                      Hallo!
                      Interesting thread... I have a question too: why on the period pics we can see some 'version' of the fez (more or less high), but the ones that cames on the militaria market are always of the type pictured?

                      Cheers!

                        Good question, I think it is answered in this very helpful thread started by T.K. last month, titled "curious about fezzes" it's a very good thread! check it out;

                        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=403217&page=4

                        But in a nutshell; many of this type were found in a Dachau depot by the liberating G.I.'s and brought home as souvinirs/ trophies.
                        If you are seeing these in Italy flea markets, I'd like to see some good pics, if you can.

                        There is also much more info in these forums with lot's of period pics. I will post some here also.

                        Best regards,
                        Jp
