Hi André, I have no problem with this, looks like an original well used KA sidecap .

                      overseas cap

I thought only SS overseas caps had the piping along the top seam ??

The cap is surely good but as Jim has evidenced this one is a W-SS schiffchen with KM insignia.

As Jim Toncar said this hat probably was supposed to be a SS schiffschen BUT morphed into coastal artillery when issued.. I am sure the pissant whom put it together was sought out and shot!! As I ve said before this wasnt a collectors deition,,there was a WAR going on..And as a side line its kind of cool to see an SS coastal artillery cap RATHER than OTHER WAFFEN SS calvary cap...JMHO Billbert

Could have also been restored incorrect post war. Insignia does not seem to match the condition of the hat.

I'm not sure if my understanding in right, do you really think that this is a WSS cap transformed to KA?, sorry but I disagree with you, this is the typical KA sidecap, all are in this way with the piping along the top seam. My mind is that some times pleople want to transform the KM caps, blue/black or fieldgrey to SS because they are very similar, but for sure this is a KA cap and has nothing to do as a WSS cap.
