Fake alert foreign volunteer shields

All these printed foreign volunteer shields are being faked.
These are being offered on ebay as " museum copies, made after 1945",
so the dealer is honest.... but others may not be.

The printed areas are very stiff and feel like a printed T-shirt...so easy to detect! And some designs were never manufactured as printed shields either.
Still interesting reference material!

Were the "Freies Indien" and "Freies Arabien" shields
ever produced in a printed variation?

I know the Lithuanian was made printed and even used.

Most the colors and details are wrong but with some Constant Comment and beef ash they could be sold as real to many.

A few more features that help ID these are: misshapen and undersized shields, a thin cheesecloth-like backing instead of the tight muslin material, and some are UV active and glow like the dickens (most don't though).

Common shields that are available are almost perfect in terms of scale (YBB, KB, POA), though not in the use of materials.

The key indicator is the stiffness, which is actually an almost rubberized application. It will melt if you touch a heated pin to it, and ALL of these new fakes have this feature. Originals were silkscreened.

They are an inexpensive filler to create a quick example set, but be careful as they are also being sold as original. A real patch will wrinkle up when crumpled; these fold heavily due to the thick emblem design application. When stitched to a piece a scrap wool, they would be slightly harder to detect.

Did you ever get an answer about printed Freies Arabien shields?
I have on on wool from JORDAN, that looks good.
