    Ekii 1813

    Hi all,

I would like to show you this EKII
I know that they use a lot of 1914 crosses to make a 1813 cross, but what about this cross, imo its not a 1914 cross,
the cross is magnetic and its a 3piece construction,so could this be a whole new build up cross?
I also lay the cross next to a 1914 cross and the 1813 one is a little bit smaller
I would like to hear your opinion.

    Thanks

It is definatly fake 1813, you can see that the flat front core was repainted. The cross was opened, the core was taken out and the frontside was filed down. Than they put the core back into the frames and closed them (and this, realy worse, on pic 5 on the left side of the 12 o clock arm the frames are overlapping, just take a look on the small ring, I guess it broke from the cross when they tried to get the core so it was put back on the cross with a fat drop of metal..). And the funniest thing, the idiots repaintet the core when it was back in the frames.. they could have made a clear painting when it was out, but so you can the the lines of the painting and the overlapping painting and color in the centre.

                A very ugly fake.

                greetings
                kraal

A common Imperial core, ground down and repainted as Kraal says. A very rough, bad job.

You can still see the faint remains of the "W".

This thing started live as a perfectly good 1914 Ek2 and then was
butchered in an attempt to turn it into a 1813 .

                            Wow!

Looking for my first ever Iron cross. I looked at the fake cross thread for info.

But can you tell me what makes a good original? Any good ones show up on ebay?

                            Thanks
