    "Albino" DKiS ...

    Hi gents,

I once sold my only DKiS and had regretted it since . Till recently, I came across this particular piece.
A strange version of the DKiS, as the inner starburst seems to be bleached, giving the DKiS its "albino" look .

About the DKiS, you have seen many, so you all know its a fairly early made heavy ( 79 gram ) piece.
But its a fun variant and those who know me, do know I like the odd and quirky pieces .

Hope you'll enjoy the pictures .

    Grtz
    Mathijs

              Hi Mathijs!!
"Albino" is a good name for this one
I've seen a few different colours of starburst on both DKiS & DKiG, but i cant remember seeing one this colour before!! Do you think it was made this way, or faded over time?
Early DKiS' are scarce anyway, and this one is possibly unique because of the colouring!
I did'nt realise you had sold your only one, till now, do you think you could be tempted into buying more DKiS' and having a collection of those to match your DKiG & RK's???
Thanks for showing, a really nice piece!!!!!!!

                "Albino" Good descriptive term Mathijs.

This is a stunning DKiG and quirky too. I like it very much.

                Best regards

Oh no!That was such a wonderful cross too! Oh well, who among us hasn't sold a piece and regretted it later? I know I've done it.

On to this beauty, she's a unique one all right!Everything about her says "early" and as you pointed out, the starburst is indeed an interesting color and one I haven't seen before.

Some other observations, I see animal glue peeking out from around the RK, so it appears to not be riveted. Someone educate me, are they all glued in this manner? For an early cross, which it undoubtedly is, the wreath is quite flawed. Any thoughts on why that might be?

All in all, a great cross Mathijs! Congrats old friend!

                    I know ...... . Regrets, I have a few .... .
Recently I bought back a cased KC which I sold some time ago ... it popped up on eBay and I snapped it up ( again ).

As to the glue question, I assume all the KvK on the DKis are glued, I have not seen a riveted piece.
I also assume that on the DKiG's the EK is also glued onto the disk ( please correct me if I'm wrong ).
The rivets on the back come from the gold or silver wreath and not the KvK / EK.

As to the worn wreath, the same die was used on the wide pin versions, so that would explain it.
However, I can only guess they used the same die for the DKiG and DKis, but applying different finish .....

A very nice DKiS with IMO the first style of the wreath...the flawed one. That one can be found on earliest pieces too and it looks like you have a transitional piece very early to early.

To the starburst...IMO you could choose what style of starburst you wanted...black painted, copper colour or real buntmetal look (with rainbow colours). So all seems to be very fine with this one.
