"Banned'??? Is this the same Robin Lumsden author of the book I read recently titled: "Detecting the Fakes" ?????? What the heck happened???

"Houston Coates"?? Same Houston Coates that was part of the topic "Untouched Böker SS or something else?" recently w/ the Boker with the number 3 bench marked lower cross guard??
I believe that the individuals named are the same as those known in the collecting community. I think perhaps not quite as prevalent now as in the past, some individuals have been banned from various forums for different reasons. Sometimes they are later reinstated. Sometimes not. As to the specifics of the one mentioned, if I knew, I don’t remember. But I think that I would have remembered with someone as well published in the area of Third Reich research and artifacts.

As for “NAMING AND SHAMING!!!” that presents some different problems. Because a certain percentage of those who were active in counterfeiting are no longer among the living. Which is commonly seen as some old collections with fakes in them get broken up as even their subsequent owners have also passed away. And for the new generation of fakers - we haven’t seen anyone come forward to claim responsibility for these two fakes:

So I don't think that I would be holding my breath waiting for them to come forward and admit to their fakery. And when some dealers (or owners) are confronted, sometimes the answer is: “Who made you an expert? I’ve been in this business 125 years years and I will tell you what is a fake, and what is not!!!!” My point being sometimes it’s just better to point out where they are mistaken or otherwise clueless as regards a particular item. Or are just trying to “get over” on someone with a fake/altered item. FP
