Original PlM - Blue Max on Ebay

Since it was assumed to be impossible to find an original PlM on Ebay I decided to go ahead and change this situation. If look for it you will find a hollow made bronze gilt PlM from the 1920th to 1940th. THe Otto Schickel catalogue shows one just like this on in its 1941 edition:

And what do the "Gentlemen" say about this Mr. Medalnet. Some of those "Gentlemen" refuse to match a badge to the Otto Schickel catalogue.

The one pictured certainly shows many differences to the one in the catalogue (centre, crown, etc.)

I'd concentrate not on the hand painted features as much as closeups as much as the catalogue shots allow on the eagles and shape.

            Hi Brian,
Just looking at the centre where the four arms join is enough to see they are different crosses.

I agree Brett, two different PLMs but maybe it's not gentlemanly to say this...

The overall shape is different. Most salient point! The flare to the arms is different.

The crown design is entirely different. I am not sure why the crown design would be so different?

The loop hole is entirely different. Like it was drilled for the copy on the left and part of the stamping process for the original on the right.

The eagles on the copy on left have features on the wingtips not found on the original on the right.

                  Sasha,

Okay, I agree it is the same piece (compare the scratches at the bottom). My question is, how can this be listed on eBay and still be on hold at Kai Winkler's site???

Well this is interesting. I just assumed when first posted that if Mr. Medalnet found a PlM on eBay that he bought and matched to Shickle, it was probably so.

But I am confused now... I looked up the eBay listings to see how a Kai medal could also be on eBay. I only just realized Mr. Medalnet is also the seller.

                      </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

So is Mr. Medalnet selling this for Kai?

And although I'm no final authority, I don't see the match to Schickle.

                      But for anyone looking to jump into this;

Now here's a photo comparison from the thread that's linked to the auction by Mr. Medalnet. This was an attempt to match the Godet example marketed by Otto Schickle in the 20's to a found PlM.

In my opinion, this was not just an attempt, it was a match. The overall shape and the crown, and the concerns I have with the example from Mr. Medalnet all melt away with this IMHO perfect match:

I hope others share their opinions here. The PlM on eBay is already up over five hundred and a very questionable piece match to me.

                          Hello,

Perhaps the seller is charging more than what Kai is asking and will just purchase the medal once the funds go into his hands.

Another fact, perhaps the seller sells reproductions and wants to show some good militaria............with a reserve that will never be met.

Mr. medalnet bought the PLM from kai and will make a high profit! that is the reason while he postet it in wehrmacht awards.
he wrote it on "Sammlergemeinschaft f******252;r deutsche Auszeichnungen"

good luck to sell the item with high profit!
