    Berlin/W. German Police Pants?

    Hello,
Got these out of a scrap pile at a flea market several years ago. They are in excellent condition (no holes or bug bites I can find), though most of the buttons are missing and the straps at the bottom that went under the feet have been cut off. They are also not faded, though some of my photos make it look that way - in reality they are still a nice dark, even bluish-gray. I have no idea what they are, but if I'm reading the stamp on the interior pocket correctly, I think it says RRBerlin with a 68 underneath. One of my German friends told me they were Berlin Polizei from (most likely) 1968, as he had seen this color for polizei uniforms of that era. I just wanted to see if anyone here could positively identify them, as I plan to put them on the e-stand soon. Got to clear some things out before another move this summer.
    Thank you,
    Dale

Stamp. Sorry for the crappy photo, but in real life looks to me like RR Berlin with a 68 under it.

              Dale,

Yes, you have a pair of West German Police breeches. The stamp is typical of Polizei Präsidium Berlin markings although the picture is not very clear.

              I hope this helps.

Thank you. It probably does say PP, but it sure looks like RR to me. I'll place them on the e-stand, though I have no clue what to ask for them. I guess I'll start at one price and go down until they sell, though I'm not sure if anyone collects West German Polizei.

Take a look at this thread on the e-stand selling a rain cape with the same markings as these pants. Looks like the stamp says PP Berlin with a GB under it, not a 68.

                    Dale,

Good eye! Yes, the so-called Luftwaffe cape does indeed have postwar Berlin Police property markings. The rain cape is made in typical police Umhang style with the neck strap. BTW, the neck strap does not go through the armholes as in the picture but is worn under the cape to retain it on the shoulders when worn with one or two flaps worn open for ventilation. This same design was worn by the Weimar Republic period Prussian Polizei in blue wool.

If there is any interrest I can put early 1950's Backpacks with PP Berlin Stamps on the E-Stand.

Anybody have any idea what the GB stands for?

                          Stepdale,

Yes there are West German Polizie collectors. George (SCHUPO) for one and myself for another. This IS not an area that commands much price wise though. Perhaps this forum will change that?

As for what GB stands for, we have discussed this before but I can not remember off the top of my head what it is. How about you George?

                          Regards,

                          Gordon

                              Gordon,

Just a WAG would be Greater Berlin. That is to say it is not property stamped to a specific Abschnitt or unit but Gross-Berlin.

                              George
