2 Claw Officers Belt for General??

    Hello Genossen,

I need some help with one of my 2 Claw Officers Belt that puzzles me a long Time now. Its completly different from the known Belts.
The Metal Parts of the Belt are all golden colored (Copper?) and hollow cast on the back..even the 2 claws are different. My Guess was it might be a belt for a higher Leader (General?) of the DVP,DGP or KVP??? Or maybe pre1945 from the SA?? who knows? The only marking is the length of the belt..120 pressed in at the end of the belt.

Here are Photos of the Belt compared with another early Officers Belt with the so called "tounge" used also by the DVP in the 50s and probably KVP/NVA..later NVA ones are without the tounge.
    Regards
    Andreas

I will have to wait to see what other knowledgable collectors say, but I think it is a General's belt.

Sorry, I am not sure that any reference material at our disposal is going to say much about this. I mean the main reference on such matters is the K.u.K. ( ) and they don't say much on the subject. I myself am unclear as to how a later General's belt would differ from a Volksmarine one. For these early ones the decorative stitching as you yourself show, is to be found on non-generals belts too. My guess is that it is a General's belt but I don't think there is any way of finding that out, unless of course, one is given such a belt by the General himself (or his family) as part of a disposal of an entire uniform wardrobe... But these occasions are rather rare... So little chance of finding out for certain, but on the other hand, also little chance of disproving it...

Andreas, Whilst there would be no problem with a general wearing this belt, it cannot be deemed a Generals belt, it was almost certainly made to be worn by a KVP/DGP officer of any grade.

                        nice item
