Interesting flag, and it appears to be "real"
IMO based on two sided construction, etc.
My guess is that it is a pre-WW2 German
Airlines company flag, based on the big "X".

If this flag is real, I cannot judge about.
The configuration of the blue and yellow as is for the background (the big X) of the flags for the aviation-company Deutsche Lufthansa, but also in use by the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei. The colors were their company-colors!
The bird/plane was anyway used by the Deutsche Luftfahrt GmbH, who took care for the training of (sports-) pilots at the schools at Berlin-Staaken, Böblingen and Würzburg. In the early 1930's there was not a swastika upon it, but came into being in about 1933/1934.

Have no idea as I am not a TR collector (yes, for many years I was). Other than that, is it a small flag (for example for a bicycle) or a large flag (Hausfahne)?
For me the colors (blue and yellow) and X were a piece of cake, as I wrote a book about Lufthansa and have a colored plate from the varios Lufthansa-flags.
Most would not have known it, when not having the documentation! To me the shown flag is for a car......(or bike).

Lufthansa-flags or like are a very nice subject. In my book "Deutsche Lufthansa 1926-1945, Geschichte, Bekleidung, Abzeichen" various flags are shown, to start with this symbol is upon the cover. Pages 146-148 do show some drawings of the flags and flags in use, page 156 the X with in the middle the condor-symbol for the Syndicato Condor-company from Brazil, page 161 with the symbol for the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei in the midle of the X, page 220 a document with a Lufthansa-flag.
I am not able to show these images! The showing of a flag out of the cockpit was regulation during a stay at an airfield (während der Liegezeit auf einem Flughafen). Such flag was also used at flag-poles, Lufthansa-ships and buildings. The Lufthansa had also flag-forms for boats (Kraftfahrzeugen, Grosstop und Bug) and board-members (Präsidialstander).....Last edited by wilhelm Saris; 09-04-2015, 06:07 AM.
