HM IAB - Munich or Gablonz?

    Hello,
I've been looking at my Hauptmunzamt Munich IAB lately and noticing that the hardware matches the Gablonz makers such as Karneth, AS in a triangle and MK (can anyone tell me who MK is also?). Here's some pictures of my IAB. Does anyone know for sure that this is really Hauptmunzamt Munich as I've seen in Tucker's book, or could it be an unknown Gablonz maker? I couldn't take pictures with the needle raised as it only opens enough to come free from the hook - the tension on it is very tight.
    Thank you,
    Dale

        Don,
I read that thread long ago and forgot the parts about the KM (or MK) in a triangle. Personally I think all of the ball hinge badges are from the Gablonz area.

I was hoping maybe Rudolf Karneth's son of Rudolf Karneth und Sohn would have a first name starting with a M, but it turns out his name was Alfred. By the way, the firm was listed as having 30 workers in 1939, so they could have made a lot of badges.

Here's some shots of the hinge and hook from my HM (now most likely KM) IAB. Also, when I was in Gablonz looking at a book listing all of the registered businesses in 1939, I found Gustav Miksch, a maker listed in Tucker's book. I also found a listing for a Kurt Miksch (listed as the same profession as Gustav), with an address next door to Gustav. Pure speculation, but he could be the KM in a triangle. It would make sense if he had a small business - it could explain why there are so few of the KM in a triangle IABs. Incidentally, my IAB came from the Czech republic. Just food for thought.

I think there is an odd maker out there that uses the ball hinge that isn't from Gablonz but for sure the majority were. It is a technique that is dependent upon a certain crimping tool/machine.
