There are a lot of fakes of this type pennant, but I really like the chain stitched type. Get other opinions but I think it is a good one.

          Hello CB:
Interesting question about a rare pennant.
But why not? As an organization defined in
the Organisationsbuch der NSDAP, and also
elsewhere, it would have had a command
structure, & traveling reprsentatives by car.

(below) SS FM (Supporting members - Foerdernde Mitglieder).
"Service in the SS which makes extreme demands, especially
during the time of the Fuehrer meetings, is economically
incomparably more difficult because the individual units of the
Schutzstaffel are stationed further apart than the units of the
SA. This makes for much higher transportation expenses in the
execution of the service. Therefore the Fuehrer permitted the
Schutzstaffel to set up the "Supporting Members Organization"
or SS FM-Organization. The supporting members who do not
have to be party members, pay a fixed monthly fee. Only the
official offices of the SS are authorized to collect these fees.
They were commissioned by the RFS to do so. The supporting
members organization is of the greatest importance to the
existence of the Schutzstaffel and shall not be disturbed in its
work by any other official office. ..."

(below) And as seen elsewhere online ...

Excellent analysis OFW. May I add my comments from another thread concerning the chain stitch FM pennant.

"Bernie, the FM of course means <small>Fördernde Mitglieder as you write above. But has anyone seen any example of these in use pictured in any of the FM Zeitschrift magazines? I can see a civilian wearing proudly an FM pin on the lapel or dress. But, I find it hard to imagine a civilian installing a fender flag mounting device in order to drive around town sporting one of these flags. Maybe I don't have the right imagination.

But the FM was controlled by each SS Stürm and as illustrated in the various FM Zeitschrift, there was interaction between the SS unit members with their FM constituents. Perhaps these flags were designed for such purposes. Not necessarily for a vehicle, but perhaps for display at a function. Or, perhaps the flags were flown from vehicles used by SS Stürm unit charged with FM administration?

I don't know, but I can visualize a more logical use than giving them to FM constituents. If you give them to all FM members, the cost would cut into the FM income for the Stürm IMO.
            </small>"
