    Maybe I did a mistake...

Hi guys, when I had this tunic in a group complete with pants, boots, camo cap field made, .... I removed the sniper patch because I thought it was added later. Sniper patch was in patina with the jacket and this is what is the sleeve without the sniper patch.
What do you think guys of this shadow? I made a mistake?

    Hi,
I'd have looked at the sum of the parts they look period applied as do's the missing patch ,but you will now forever question your mistake ,but it do's depend on what the patch was like.

Antonio very interesting, Bob Hritz has a Jager tunic with the sniper patch in a similar position above the Jager patch. Do you have a pic of the removed sniper badge? Jacques

      Just found the pics.

        Antonio,

If the sniper patch is one we feel is original, you have made a very big mistake.

I agree. The one silver lining to removing it in this case is that you never have to wonder if the sniper badge was period original to the tunic! You can (maybe) find another original and have it carefully and correctly reapplied. Keep some photos of it off with the tunic, then all will know this was a sniper's tunic.

In pursuit of perfection a mistake has been made, looks as if it was always there & must be put back, you know you've removed it, we think you've removed it but at the end of the day if it was there in the fist place, it is part of the tunics history.

Easy for us to say but it looks like it was there, re-attach is all you can do.

We have all made mistakes...some little/small...while others are huge and expensive. Chalk it up to experience and life. If you still have the sniper's patch...have it re-applied...and move on. Too bad it wasn't on a cheap inexpensive tunic/jacket...but oh well. You'll beat yourself every time you look at the tunic.

Just re-apply it. There are worse things in the world than a badge mistakenly removed.

                          Hi Antonio

Sorry to hear this news. Did you remove it because of its application ? or the way it sat on the tunic vs the Jager patch ? What made you pretty sure it is post war applied ? It could have been attached after the war and it could/would look just like this shadow...

Do you still have the badge ? Just attach another one if you want, no big deal

                          Ciao

Here a picture taken before the patch was removed.
It was machine sewn and the same pattern (called "second type") of the one showed in Bob Hritz uniform.

I send the badge to Hermann Historica with other pieces, so it will be listed on the next auction in may.

But I have another sniper badge, and I think I will restore the tunic with mine.

                              Terrible mistake... Drastic solution.
Why you didn't show the tunic before removing the sniper badge?
That seems more logic to me than the other way round.
