    A. Dickfeld - Are these the real L/12 Oaksleaves?

Here is the set which I think has the greatest chance of being the real L/12 oaksleaves set. They belonged to A. Dickfeld (RK March 42, OL May 42). The oaks are permanently attached to the Juncker RK, meaning that the loop was modified to be closed.

Close up. It is notable how close the right vein is to the center and that the set makes a 'wide' impression.

Obviously the picture was taken before the modification of the loop. However, one can see the right vein is very close to the center and the set is 'wide.

Interestingly, the same style of oaks can be found in a contemporary publication (see my book page 242.

So is this the real L/12?

On the picture of Mr. Dickfeld you can see the small ring... it might just be becasue of the angle of course.... but the ring aint showing on the first pic.

            Just my thoughts.

The loop was - as I mentioned above- modified to be permanently closed. You can see this on the picture of the reverse of the oaks.

Much like these (although not L/12 marked).

Another model of L/12 which I believe may also be correct.

Very interesting. I read his book a long while back, and that was fascinating, from memory I think he broke his neck taking off in an FW 190 (Tunisia I think), it crashed on take off, and he survived to tell the tale.
