What is your opinion about this U-boot abzeichen? They told me this badge with maker R.S. is rare. Any opinion is welcome!

Hi Den,

Been looking at this badge for a while, but since I don't own an RS U-boat I only can comment based upon my picture files.

In general the badge looks ok, but I think we're still missing a picture of the catch (you posted the hinge in your catch picture I think) since these are not unimportant on RS badges.

However the eagle lacks some detailing in the breast feathering and wings compared to the ones I have on file. Also rudder and prop are less detailed. Gold finish looks a little strange but that can be the result of you pictures or flash.

All in all I would tend towards good but very late war.

Hi Den,

Certainly more difficult to fined than a nice Schwerin but than again due to the post war activities of RS in producing copies I think they're not so popular because most collectors are a little scared of them.
