    Dipping ring RK

Jamie Cross shows a dipping ring RK in his update today that he attributes to an SS prisoner of war. I thought all dipping ring RKs were fake. Am I wrong?

Whether a "dipping ring" RK is a fake depends on the definition of the phrase. In this case the RK is a fake, made by R. Souval of Wien.

" COM) A Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. It is quite unusual to get a Knight's Cross with a history and this one has one going back to the end of the war. The cross itself is unusual in the fact that it is the slightly dipped eye style and marked 800 silver. The cross has a magnetic centre with a high swastika and is has a nice matt black finish to it. The silver frame has the 800 mark just below the eye loop of the cross. The soldering of the core is very nice with only a hairline crack showing. The suspension loop is also marked 800. The 800 mark on the Knight's Cross is encussed within a box. The cross is complete with an original piece of ribbon that has it's original ties and was purchased by myself in around 1983 from a British senior NCO who was in charge of a POW camp in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The camp was predominantly for SS troops but also have foreign volunteers. This is where the POHA Armshields as well as several other foreign volunteer armshields, decorations, tunics and badges came from. This was the only knight's cross the man had and he stated it came from a black tunic'ed recipient. The cross has been authenticated and used by Gordon Williamson in his Iron Cross book and is shown on page 279 of the said publication with a write up of this style of cross on page 337-338. He also shows this cross in his privately printed Collector's guide to the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and a copy of this accompanies the knight's cross and is shown in this publication as his type 2 with the description of the cross as well as a picture. Quite a scarce cross to acquire, very rare as said, to have one with a history. A bargain at GBP ******163;3225.00"

Wow, what a history! Or story...

If this was pulled off an SS panzerman it must have been done in the 70s. What a load of.... No shame.

Long-winded sales pitches to cover dubious items have been a hallmark of Jamie Cross. best wishes,

I love the way he uses the SS as a hook to draw in the unsuspecting collector. Not only this, but you get the exotic foreign volunteer sales pitch on top of it!

Jamie sold this RK off his site 2-3 years ago.
I guess it had a return-spring attached to it
