    New Frank & Reif PAB

    Hello, Gentlemen.

    I just got this F&R PAB today. Feinzinc. I'm really happy with the finish to the badge. Just wanted to show it off a little.

            I have one exactly the same but made of kriegsmetall and it is slowly dying of zincrot on the front.

                Hi guys,

                For the benefit of me (sorry) how can you tell it's a F&R I can't see a makers name.

                I've had two fake F&R of different styles what are you looking at to tell this maker and originality please.

                  Frank & Reif features

                  Hi, Marcus,

                  I hope I can answer your question as to the features of an authentic F&R PAB. I furnished the closeup of the eagle for everyone to see clearly the eagle's head ( eye, beak). These features are really unique to F&R. There is a recent thread including a marked F&R PAB comparing it to an unmarked that may help you. Do a search on: 'Frank & Reif PAB, opinions please'...and 'Silver PAB, opinions please.' Find these by searching with the entry, 'Frank and Reif'

                  This should answer some questions for you.

                      nice unmarked F&R PAB, thanks for sharing

                      @Marcus: another very distinctive feature of F&R PABs is the pattern of the grass area, if you compare side by side this detail with other makers you'll see it is very different. But always look at the eagle's head too, in some modern F&R repros the eagle is not correct.

                        Hi Marcus,

                        The most distinctive feature on these F&R, be it on the hollow or massive versions for me is the eagles head. If you realy focus on the head you will recognize an F&R in a pile of 20 PAB's in a matter of seconds. When the head is ok you just check the other features Grass, scoop, hing and catch, they are are very typical and if you compare all that with a marked badge it's quit easy to reach a conclusion.

                        However there are a lot of fake F&R's arround some good copies and some realy bad ones. But if you remember the features to look for they want fool you.

                        I'll post to copies for you. The first, a realy bad one you can immediately dismiss only buy looking at the head.
                        The second one a hollow back is better but here the hinge and catch setup in combination with poor detail give it away.
