    Japanese NCO sword

Guy's I mainly collect Imperial German items, but came across this Sword locally and could not pass it up.

I do not know much about these, but do know this type is being reproduced in China etc.

I think this one is ok, and it came with leather hanger strap and brass buckle type thing to hang on belt.

I paid $300 for it, so if I screwed up, lesson learned...

Blade and scabbard are matching numbers with 73264 on blade and throat of scabbard. All aprts are tight.

Handle is metal, Aluminum?? shows some wear on handle. Blade is in great shape with remains of oil or cosmoline on it that I have not tried to clean yet.

Any feedback or information would be apprecaited.

    thanks

    James

Yep, you got lucky with this one, plus a bonus strap and belt loop. With all the fakes (some pretty good, many very bad) coming from China, the NCO swords are a risky buy for new collectors.

                      Hello James,

As others have said you have a fine authentic piece.

Commonly referred to as a top latch iron tsuba version of the Type 95 NCO sword. More on where it fits into the development line can be found here...

As everyone already said a great buy 100% original. At least worth the double, on ebay possibly more. I wish we could find such bargains here in Sweden. Congrats
