Then you'd be missing perhaps the only REAL SS M41 tunic you will ever come across in your life. This isn't a "is this real" thread. The tunic is a genuine SS issue M41 with original eagle and period tresse. I said in my first post that the tabs were added back in the 70's. I just wish it had ALL the insignia that was on it back in 1945.
Actually it is a M40 tunic but with a '41 depot stamp I assume? Nice score none the less.

Could you perhaps show a photo of the markings? I'm always intrigued by Heer tunics issued to the SS and that don't show signs of any breast eagles etc. Of course this is where the skeptics among us go wild... I have a SS M40 tunic myself, with Heer depot markings that has been SS it's whole lifetime.

The depot markings are long gone. I have the M42 helmet posted over in the helmet section.

I have a couple of SS BW wool tunics which have evidently gone back to depot for " re-fit " , personally i think it only adds to their character . By 1944 / 45 it is evident to me that lots of heer uniforms were being re-processed back into the SS. I like it ; good honest late war reissue combat tunic which illustrates the climate of clothing issue in the wars final stage

An advanced SS collector came out today to see the tunic and pointed out something I hadn't noticed. The wool under the eagle that is now exposed due to the section being torn away has all it's nap and bright color, whereas the surrounding wool is worn down and dirty. An unquestionable original. I already knew this but it's nice to hear!

Your tunic is fine, i like it, one of the few i would invest to when looking for a SS M40 tunic..

But for the above fakers knew many years ago, one trick is to remove parts of the original insignia to show the unworn nap beneath to fool the collector even more. This is seen especially on caps.

The collector must not rely only on this when examining an item.

Still are many things, which fakers cannt reproduced.

I am new Very^2 happy Owner this tunic and I have NO^3 problem with it and IMO all insignias was period aplied. Place with shields shadow was bad photographed, because there was EM/schietzes/oschs triangl, but not shield

many items needs personal hand inspection

                          good luck with collecting SS
