"Any L/53's out there, it's always bad news when you guys are silent."

Not necessarily. Maybe nobody knows anything.

"I know you know, confirm this then I think the hinge and pin are like nothing I've seen."

    Yes.

"The finish is poor and the detail lacking, in areas."

    Yes.

"Where details are obvious it is not of the quality that is ecountered on known other original makes."

    Yes.

    "Am I right please."

Yes, but even though you are correct on all of your points, it doesn't necessarily make the piece bad, IMHO.

    I don't know.

      I'm still learning a lot...

I have been following this thread closely and reading the comments.

I just picked up a KVK 1st class stamped #3 that everyone said was ok.

But I do have a comment/observation: You would think that a smart counterfitter (is there such a person?) would stick with known or text book examples to make fakes from. It seems very odd to me that a counterfitter would make such a different badge pin. Basically, Calling attention to itself and inviting speculation as to it's provenance. Just a thought.

It looks old to me, but "patina" can be manipulated. I'm probably wrong...

        Hello,

One last plea, does any one own a L 53 one of these, I can't find one in any and all reference. The chances are it slipped my notice if there is one already posted on the forum.

Has any one got one ?

        Kind regards,

        Marcus

          Hello all,

          Did Hymmen produce KvK_1's?

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Mr Winkler (https://www.nordheideversand.de/) got one L/53 on his site.

I don't know if Hymmen made KVKs, but if they did I bet they look as strange as the example described by Marcus (pics unfortunately now gone), since every other award I've ever seen by "L/53" has been unusual.

Here you go, this one is the only one (not that I've seen all the variations or looked for them) I've seen with this type of pin, Frank has the same pattern I think, with a yet again different pin.

Weird looking thing and made to the usual standards of Hymmen......shoddy looking !!

Pin underside, the badge is marked L/53 in a box which is raised if I recall rather than incuse.

You can just see the mm on these old scans, if you want better ones I'll have to get the medals from storage (I don't keep them at home at all)
