Last week 'tinmantis' posted a list of spange makers that he was personally aware of. The 'L/14' had a '?'-mark by it. I find nothing in my files, good or bad, concerning this spange. Perhaps others will offer help here.

I would have to defer to Jon's (in)conclusion.
(That said, sometimes it's worth buying an item that's not absolutely known to be good -- because it might prove to be in the future. I've done it myself, with good results. I consider such chance-taking to be a part of the serious research necessary for this hobby.)

It looks "interesting", but when that is said, on my limited budget, I would not buy it

I'm so glad one of these has popped up again
as I think I just made a connection to another questionable spangen, the infamous 'second design' L/12... so thanks all!

                  I think the story goes:
Juncker needed more spangen one day, so sourced out more from another unknown maker and stamped them L/12 (hmmm, I never really believed that, even though I bought one from Detlev about 10yrs ago, but to his credit, eventually took it back) but he, and others, still sell them from time to time.
                  anyways
I have a few L/14 marked spangen on file, nearly owned one myself once, but the Fedex was stolen (thankfully!) I hoped one day I'd find out more, as some of them looked incredibly believeable...
Well, I just realised they are identical as those 'sourced out' L/12 marked dubious ones

I think I have to make the assumption these are fake, L/14 AND the L/12s.
Unless someone can make me believe that the story now goes:
Juncker was stamping L/12 onto unmarked(they used a raised mm) legit L/14s!?

kinda reminds me of the raised mm L/16, which many collectors still say are good.
I think we are now beginning to raise our heads above the fakery in some respects

                  anyone agree?

                  regards
                  jon
