It has the same very wide and flat crown detail and the pin is more the style of a KO piece.

Doug, I have to admit that when I first saw these "eagle M" markings on a 1914 EK1 a few years ago (images on the forum from an auction) I was openminded. Now I 100% agree with you - they are not right and I certainly wouldn't have one, even though I am always on the lookout for variants. Those KAG markings just don't look right. The problem may arise when they are left unmarked though, although the core details may help.

I have an original........
....... that's in a group to a Bavarian Pilot. Both EK1 & EK2 were KAG crosses and original to the pilot. I will try and get some scans asap.Comment

This is the third "engraved" KAG that's surfaced on eBay recently. All seem to be engraved (badly) by the the same hand. One was sold by a known seller of fakes.Comment
