Opinions on this EK1

There have been several of these for sale on eBay. IMO, it's a well made fake. What do you think?

Doug, sorry I cannot 'scientifically' substantiate it, but I would say it is fake...Litze looks wrong and pin and bock certainly do look wrong in my opinion...I would not bid on it... but of course I might well be wrong... I am sure someone else will be able to 'proove' it one way or another...Cheers, Torsten. (ebay id german.militaria).

Hi guys,
IMO this is a fake. I know I have been wrong on some of my guesses but to me
the pin and makers mark look wrong. I have always thought that a "KAG" Ek1 had a very tappered pin and was marked on the pin. There is one on ebay right now. here is a picture ( a bad picture)

I agree with you about this one being fake. I bought one about 3 years ago, and posted it here back then. Most of the "old hands" on this forum didn't like it either. There have just been too many for sale on eBay. the82nd/dedub67 has sold a few, and this seller usually sells nothing but repros, so that clinches it for me as far as it being a repro. The pin looks suspiciously like the fake KO's in thread from a few days ago. The KAG mark looks like it's hand engraved (note the overlpas on the K strokes).

In regards to the stamping. Most of the honest pieces I have seen seem to have been stamped before polishing, the stamping on the one Doug presents has the raised/displaced metal typical of a fresh stamping.
