    Para Badge by C.E. Junker

    I recently picked up this para badge by C.E. Junker Berlin SW. As can be seen from the attached pic, the medal is also inscribed "BEISNER", probably for the recipient.

    I would appreciate any comments from the forum members on this piece. Can't seem to get the right lighting for a clearer pic of the front, but it looks like the material of the medal is Tombak.

    With regard to the recipients name inscribed on the medal, does this add or take away from the value of the piece?

    IMLKOP (in my limited knowledge of paras),

    Looks good to me.

    I think a name on the back and some honest field wear adds tons of desirability to a badge. My badge is too minty. Doesn't do much for me. I'm thinking about sanding it down and then scratching a name on the back........maybe Jackson....or Miller?

      Hi guys,

      nice tasty badge.
      I also like "used" badges, my view is that there is nothing wrong with inscriptions scatched on the back of badges. Just shows how mutch the owners valued these.

            A very nice piece - nice pick up! As far as I'm concerned the name scratched into a badge does not detract from it's appearance or it's desireability, in fact adds character to it! From the photos provided, I can't say it's tombak, but it's definately a buntmetall piece. Congrats!!

                  Thanks for the kind comments guys.

                  When I hold the Junker vs. my Assman or unmarked para badge, you can really feel the difference. The Junker is a really nice manufacturer.

                  Jos, your medal looks fantastic.

                  Eric, thanks for pointing out the correct material, I can't seem to yet tell the diff between bunmetall and Tombak. Need to handle more medals and get more experience.
