    Blockade Runners badge

    Hi all,
Picked this up with a high seas from a friend.
    Is it made by Juencker?
Is a buck and a half too much for this?

        Hi Terry,

Same here neve seen something like it and never knew that there were other makers besides AGMuk and Schwerin.

Although there exist very good copies of this Juncker set-up this badge somehow looks believable to me.

It isn't copied from a known maker, the extra cut-out next to the ships chimney is not something you will find on other blockade runners that I know of.

Would make sence that Juncker also made this badge taken in to account that they produced most KM badges and I always wondered why there were only two makers of the blockade runner badge wich isn't much compared to most other KM badges.

Very interesting find and I can't wait to hear other opinions on it.

Kai Winkler currently has one with this Junker type setup for sale at 235Euros. It also has the additional cut out.

              Fake or Not

              Mmm,

Can’t say if it is a fake or not but there are a couple of things that concern me. It seems to have some of the traits of the cave creek specials in that there are only 6 portholes in the third row down as opposed to 7 on accepted originals. It has the sharp cut out between the top of the tail and the wing and the top of the wave cut out is "wavey" not a straight edge normally found on originals. Also what is it made of? it looks like a good quality metal (not zinc based?) but has little of the silvered finish left on it where as the dark grey finish seems to have survived OK<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

I have not noticed these before, if it were the only one around then perhaps I could be swayed but another on a dealers site at the same time and especially in the same condition with respect to finish seems to be a bit of a coincidence to me.<o></o>

Perhaps time will tell if this is a copy if more surface in the future but at the moment, not a badge for me.

Out of interest, how much is a buck and a half - $1.50 or $150.00

              Regards
              Rob

                Hi Rob,
                $150
This came from a friend who has had it for some time. It appears to be zinc, and the eagle was silvered but has turned.
                Yours,
