    Imperial Service Badge

I've had more than one e-mail of late with regards to the purpose of this particular badge - the Imperial Service Badge. So, I dug one out of my 'bits box', scanned it in all its glory, and decided to put it on the forum for posterity.

The badge, which is 4cm long at the base, was issued to all soldiers of the Territorial Force (the precursor to the TA) who had elected to serve overseas from 1912 onwards. The small silver badge was worn on the right breast of the uniform above the breast pocket. They can sometimes be found engraved with the recipient's details, and whilst silver in the main, some examples appear to be manufactured of cupro-nickel. Fakes? I wouldn't be at all surprised.
