    CCC in Gold with overstamp!!

    Hi All,
I was shown this GWL Close Combat Clasp in Gold last night , I have no issues with the clasp. But for some reason somebody in the past has overstamped the GWL mark with RC. Appears to be post production as the RC is stamped through the guilding. It has a Niemann certificate.

My questions are why would anybody do it?
    Does it effect the value?
Who is RC as a maker?

I apologise for photo quality, only had phone camera.
    Forums help is appreciated.

I believe this is also known on some of their U-boat badges as well. Reason is unknown.

      Flak too

That RC stamp is also found on Flak badges also. I am sure Tom Durante would like to see this clasp in more detail as would others.

Very very nice and even with the typical RC overstamp a textbook original piece

Would it be possible to post bigger, sharper pictures?

What a coincidence that I had never seen a nice gold GWL clasp, and now in a few weeks two turn up! Here's mine

2 GWL gold clasps in one time! Congrats guys, two rare pieces to see around.

I'd like me too to see better pictures of the first clasp.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Clasp looks OK to me, but the strange stamping I have no theory about.

This RC stamp can be found on many GWL Luftwaffe badges as well.

                  Russell and Giel,
I must apologize that in my rush to comment on the overstamp I totally neglected to compliment you both on obtaining such rare and beautiful badges. I considered myself very fortunate to obtain a CCC in silver by GWL many years ago but these are exceptional.

Very interesting to see another RC stamped GWL product.

The Richard Conrad connection is a mighty stretch though. Why would a badge with a reverse die maker mark from Lüdenscheid, using a Gablonz method of production, end up stamped by an insignia manufacturer in Weimar?

The badges could just as well have been stamped by any retailer happening to have the initials RC, which would seem more probable than an insignia manufacturer, IMO.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm
