    Finally got one of these...

I've always wanted one, but never gotten one for some reason. Very affordable Prusssian enamel piece -- priced at about the level of a rare EK2 variant. An unofficial veteran's thing.

Is this one of the many unofficial pieces the Hindenburg Cross was designed to replace?

    I love that description.

Some of the veterans pins and badges are very nice looking.
    Nice one Trevor.

      Thanks Greg.

Whoever designed this one managed to cram all the visual cues of Prussian militarism in there -- the tatzenkreuz cross design, the black and white colors, Hohenzollern eagle, crest, the crossed swords, the oakleaves as a traditional Prussian symbol of bravery.

It's a very nice piece -- a lot heavier and more solid than I imagined.
      Best regards,

I like these as well, Trevor, and have a couple kicking around, including the award document.

            Hey!

I love these ones myself and I´m pretty proud to own an equally fine piece Even if it´s no bravery or military merit medal, it is still one of my favourites and I´m always looking for a medal bar with EK2 + these to add them to my collection.

            Great find!

The veteran's crosses are indeed beautiful and well made. It is a collecting field in it's own right. I've owned a few over time myself. If other things didn't distract me so much I would probably try and get them all.

Get them all? How many different variations are there?

This cross has to be one of the nicest unofficial medals out there. It puts some of the official medals of that era to shame. Gary

Every state has their version of this, and some have both unofficial 2d and 1st classes.

                            War veteran's awards

                            Hi Gentlemen,

I would like to show this nice preserved and cased veteran's medal bar

                            along with the IC I

Is it possibly a fake one ?

How much would or should the price be ?

                            Thank you

                            Wolf
