    1939 EKI big case

    Hi guys...

I have this 1939 EKI case and was wondering if this type are attributed to any particular maker(s). Would be nice to fill it with the "right" cross.

I pictured it with a most regular seen eki case just to compare.

If more pictures are needed, just let me know...

    With antecipated thanks,
    Joao.

      Hey Joao,

Could I have some more pic's please, the base more tha anything if possible.

The slit seems rather straight with no cut-out area's top and bottom and the material covering the base a little ruffled. The border frame of the base seems damaged.....this is done alot of the time by collectors pulling out the bases; is it possible to pull ou the base on this large case ?

Sometimes you do (rarely) encounter larger no EK intended cases for the odd EK1 and even EK cases for the odd Luft award even for example (base and shell type normally associated with either or and not normal to be encountered with other base/shell coverings)

Hi Marcus, many thanks for your reply.

No, i can´t remove the base of the case. The material covering the base is indeed differente from other cases i have.

If i understood you well, maybe the case if for an EK but the base is used to be found on luft awards boxes?

I´m adding new pictures as you ask. If more is needed, let me know.

        Joao.

I have an identical case, it came with an Iron Cross 1st class model 1957 made by Deumer. I am not shure if this cases were used before 1945.

Large cases for EK1 - original or not?

I know this is an old thread, but whilst catching a glimpse of the case shown, thought I'd leave a reply:-
I obtained two of these larger cases separately around 21 years or so ago. I have always been of the opinion that these are of post-war manufacture. The main reason being that the satin upper lining and hinge covering in both reacts severly to UV blacklight. One case was mint, 'as new' and empty when I got it... the other was more worn/dirty but contained a fake one-piece EK1.
I have only ever heard/read negative opinions about the chances of these cases being original in the past, but I would love to find these opinions to be wrong!
                    Regards,
                    Jason

                      Jason and Co.,

You might be interested in the EK1 and large case that is/was for sale in the badges section of Estand under the heading "Super cased L59 EK1-Multiple Marks".

I'm not questioning the authenticity of the case on estand as I have no idea either way.

                        Hi Jason,

You don't happen to still have these cases do you? I'd like to compare, outer coverings, catches and all insundry of things to other examples.

The UV reaction is a very important 'sound bite' thus far concerning these, but I really need to categorise these cases properly as there are minor yet distinct differences in several 'similar' sorts of these.

                        Kr

                          Hi Marcus

I have one of these cases and when I get home tonight will get it out and get you all the specs/pictures and do a uv test. Jim

                              Case

This is the case that started off this discussion.

I checked it this morning and it does not glow with the black light. Also the insert appears to be wood (can't get it out). It has support on both sides of the opening going from front to back (much like the Flak case I have), they are located about 10mm from the opening. The outter surface is a lot smoother than a normal cross case. The case measures 21mm H x 80mm W x 77mm L. I have two sets of pictures, the first is the case itself.
