Love the branch transition which resulted in this "mixed up" uniform!
Does the sleeve have an officers bullion Polizei eagle?
Can't wait to see the entire uniform once it arrives. Such an interesting combination!

thanks Nick! Yes, anyone knows what kind of visor cap would he wear? in some of the photos of him he s wearing what looks like a standard polizei cap but what colour would that be? standard green?

Yes, standard green piping officer visir cap. Did the family mention his service in the police? Unit or static location?

Is the outline of the removed Heer breast eagle pronounced? Unfortunately medical officers arent carried on the published police rank lists.

No the jacket never had an Army breast eagle,it was born as a polizei one as when he got it in late 1943 he was already with the polizei (he was with the heer before that )

Here just cause i have it on my phone, a photo of him when he was still a polizei captain with a different jacket and didnt earn the ek1 or the wound badge in silver yet

Daniele, I'm having a hard time with my screen identifying the colors of the tunic collar and collar tabs. Is the collar black or dark green? And the officer collar tabs?

Looks to be a Hauptmann in the Gendarmerie. Was he a medical officer then?

Collar s a standard dark green and tabs are white,

Still investigating and waiting for info/material from the family but i would say almost certainly yes as to him being a medical hauptmann. I think we can see the medical metal snake on the shoulder boards too

Okay. I'm getting confused. He was a Hauptmann doctor in the Gendarmerie, then promoted and chose to wear in service a Heer tunic with Heer insignia?

As to the color of the visor cap piping, I would retract my statement and say it would be unknown until we know what in what branch of the police he was in when wearing the Heer tunic.

Perhaps he was transferred from the Wehrmacht to the police. Similarly, this veterinarian.

                            Joe,

No he was with Heer in Infantry before the war to maybe midwar from Private to Leutnant at least, Not sure when he got transferred to polizei and when he became a doctor unless he was a medical soldier in the heer as well. The initial photo showing the exact jacket is dated January 1944.
That Jacket is meant to be a polizeib(never had a breast eagle on it but an Arm polizei eagle instead) even tho it s probably an Heer/SS Pattern. The last photo I ve shown shows a different Jacket as Hauptmann which means probably 1943 and without the EK1 and Wound badge in silver which means He was already with the Polizei when he earned the EK1 and WB in Silver. where he earned those i dont know but for sure he saw the Front. Hopefully i ll receive more news/info soon

Are you presuming this officer was transfered from Heer to Police because you think the tunic is Heer or do you know he was in the Heer and transfered to the Polizei. Kind of hard to tell with a B & W photo.
