Allach - expensive humped up piece on specialized dealer site!

    SS cultural collectors,

Here we have the chance to be witnesses of an interesting conversion and con version of an offered Allach piece:

    http://www.allachporcelain.com/for-s...lain-for-sale/

    Described as:

    EXTRAORDINARILY RARE PAINTED KOHLMEISE
( Only painted version known to exist )
    Model # 111
    Mint Condition
    10.5 cm or 4.5 ” in height

The price for this "extraordinarily rare" painted version of the Allach Kohlmeise (= great tit) is a smooth 8,5K.

Clicking for the details a bigger pic of the offered piece in question pops up with...the headline describing it as a:

    http://www.allachporcelain.com/for-s...ehlchen_009-3/

    Rotkehlchen! (= european robin)

So all of a sudden the one of it´s kind painted great tit converts into a european robin - the dealer in question published two books on this subject so it´s hard to believe that he just made a mistake.
And if so he should not have a problem to check this out and pull the piece back.

    Because one thing is clear:

This thing is fishy - buyer beware!

Just because he's not very good at identifying birds doesn't mean its a fraud, just an error. The bird is, of course, a Robin- had it been a Great Tit it would have had a yellow breast and white spots on each side of its head...

"Just because he's not very good at identifying birds..."

        You obviously missed my point:

His description - and the sudden change of it in exactly this detail from one pic to the other! - shows pretty clear that he IS very good at identifying birds, just does not reveal it that officially.

Otherwise how could he list it then as being the real deal at all?

Thorsten, is the item pictured (not labeled mind you) that which is for sale in the advertisement? A Kohlmeise? Are you implying that the seller has advertised for sale a Rotkelchen? Or has the digital photo file been mislabeled as a Rotkelchen?

Allach produced this piece as depicting a Kohlmeise and it is labeled as such in their docs - I only know of this piece existing in white.

But this offered Kohlmeise is coloured and so labeled by the seller as being one of it´s kind - therefore the whoopy price.

              Indeed it´s a unique piece:

The only Allach Kohlmeise I have ever seen dressed as a Rotkehlchen.

The collector who might end up with this switcher won´t have anything to laugh about in the end, though.

So does that mean it is a post war painted or repainted item? Or an outright fake, or?

Sorry, I know nothing about allach and therefore don't understand what the ado is about.

                  Cheers

                    Seiler,

you have just been reported - your personal agenda within your comment is more than clear and filled to the top with ruthless accusations against me which I do not tolerate for one second.

                    Fritz:

Somebody took a white authentic Allach bird (in this case the Kohlmeise, Allach Nr. 111), put paint on it - maybe some months ago but in any case definitely after 1945 - to let it appear as a coloured version of the said Kohlmeise.

Now that faker - whoever it was - was stupid enough and could not even differentiate between the look of a Kohlmeise and a Rotkehlchen (which has never been produced by Allach at all) - so he mixed that up and the poor result:

A once originally white Allach Kohlmeise was dressed as a Rotkehlchen!

So finally this piece has been totally ruined - but is labeled as "extraordinarily rare painted Kohlmeise" for 8,5K.

I would be interested in hearing more about this, has it been discussed on the forum before?

Nah, a rub down with acetone or drop it in bucket of strong paint stripper

I would think any faked post painted glaze porcelain items will be cold painted, too risky to re-fire an original. The glaze looks good like an airbrushed resin glaze and if so it should come off again, same with the paint.

If he is a tarted up tit he'll be nice and warm with his double glazing.

One thing I can tell you:
I had dealings with Thorston B**** and I do not know Dennis Porell...so I would trust Dennis Porell over Thorston any day of the week, even if Porell made a mistake this time.

This thread is about a faked expensive Allach bird - live with it.
