            Hi George,

Were you refering to this thread?

            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=HSF

As far as I'm concerned the AS you posted is a copy based upon some of the originals in the above thread. This AS is a very crude badge and the material and finish abd ageing are miles apart from what I would expect to see on an original.

              Hi George

I must say that I'am not a pro! But this looks like a fake to me because:

              1) The front looks poorly cast
              2) stange overall aperance/colour
              3) I have never seen any of these badges made by Assmann
              4) I dont like the needle setup it certainly dosen't conform to other needle/catch setups by Assmann.

              But what puzzels me is:

The reverse seems to have signs that its diestruck, along the rims.
Would a faker be soo stupid and choose Assmann as makermark instead of the more common "schwerin"?

              Cheers Thomas

                Dear Thomas,

I agree with you on all points but the AS in triangle mark isn't the Assmann mark, it's believed to be Adolf Sholze

My pictures do make it look cast. But it is die struck I found the Thread started by Frank H It looks the same as the post by Skip in that thread.
Is the one Skip posted a repro as well?http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=hsf

                  I'll post better pics.

                  Thanks

                    Phillipe,

Are you sure AS in triangle is Adolf Scholze? I was under the assumption that Adolf Scholze MM was ..... A.S.

                    Isn't the AS in a triangle ...... A.D. Schwerdt

Regardless ... neither of the above Makers made the HSF Badge according to Tucker-Previtera

                            Hello George,

Is this the badge that was up on ebay just recently? In my opinion this badge is a fake. To the best of my knowledge, A.S. in a triangle did not produce the High Seas Fleet Badge, although they did produce a few other Kriegsmarine Badges such as the E-boat Badge and the Minesweeper Badge. The hinge and the catch are not correct for this maker, at least not when compared with other original badges by A.S. in a triangle.
                            Best regards! Tom

                              Hi,

I think it is the same fake I showed back then. If so, check the hinge, it is not a seperate part but cast with the rest of the badge. You can see it when you look really hard.
                              Cheers, Frank
