Interesting question. I'm more of a first class guy myself,
It will be interesting to see what others think.

I only know of 1 1914 ek2 that would be truly rare .

all others are available and sometimes,, at best,, not seen often ,

that is the reason there is no rare listing ,,the list is to short .

fore the 1870 ek2 its the same thing .

most of those are easy available . with 1 exception. and 1 jeweller special.

      regards

With almost 4 million 1914 Ek2 being produced none are really
RARE but some makers are more easily found than other.

In my opinion the following are considered more valuable then "normal" ek2 1914

                  1) 1914 type A
                  2) AWS ek2
                  3) Fat W WuS
                  4) CD 800 (mostly any 800 or silver content marked ek2)
                  5) One I encountered only once and which looks like a TR AWS
                  6) the special enameled core variant.

                  here is 1 and 3:

2 can be found here (from Trevor):

                      and

4 can be found here (from Don)

6:can be found here (From Kay)

Next up is 5 on my list and next another one, also a rare one IMO, although it is still unknown if the stamp was done by a jeweler..

Some TR made pieces like Deschler or S&L are also rare IMO. Obtain a wideframe Godet or Hansen EKII is not easy too.

I would think that Tony's enameled Prinzen would
                          have to be considered rare.

But I think the question asked is which makers are
                          considered more rare than others.

                            Hi Greg,

you are right that that was the question. However in my opinion the system of rare makers of ww2 ek2's is somewhat different for ww1 ek2's (not for ww1 ek1's )

It is more about versions then makers.
And yes that enameled Prinzen counts. As any Prinzen will do!

                            Best regards,
                            Michel

Unknown maker #23 gets my vote.
