40 Year Oakleaves

What is the current consensus on 40 year oakleaves for the LS medal. Should there be cut out (shown) between the leaves or should it be solid?

I am not a fan of the cut out type of oak leaves.

I have a 57'er 40yr LS that has the exact same type of oak leaf attachment.

There is a thread on here somewhere where Neimann found a box of these in a basement somewhere. So they must be real.

I have never seen an authenticated 40yr bar with this type of oak leaf attachment.

Thanks, Wayne. I recall reading some of the old threads and I thought that most collectors believed the solid type wreath were the wartime issue with the cut our ones being questionable at best.

The box which was found in a basement containing approx 100 of these 40-Yr bars were all of the solid variety.

I bought one of them when Detlev sold them.

He also told me that there was an L/50 Oak leaf cluster for a RK in the box!

I am also not a fan of the type which are cut out.

I can only agree with the guys, and I can add that all the period catalogues I saw they pictured only the solid type.

I have seen hollow varieties of the open type oak leaf cluster too.

Ratisbons has 25yr with a 40yr open oak leaf cluster in his upcoming auctions.
