    just in : prinzen 1870 ek2

This little beauty came in today.
I am a TR collector, never thought that I would get the hang of these as well......

    Best regards,

The Crown has an interesting appearance...

The "jewels" in the crown are very distinct...

        Hi Ben,
I am always leary of "stepped core" prinzens. Over the years we have seen a lot of fakes. Here is a thread that discusses these in detail.
Be sure to follow the links provided.

          Hi Greg,
yes, I read all I could find, checked the pics etc.
Not much to be found on these prinzen though, I guess TR collectors are spoiled....

Over the past months I ahve managed to aquire some rather nice and rare crosses, pherhaps I have run out of luck with this one

If this is a fake, it is very convincing.
The core appears to be cast, and blackened in some way but noit painted.
The ribbing is slightly uneven, and the wear is very convincing as well.

I will post better and more detailled pics this weekend.

          Best regards,
          Ben

            Hi Ben

I can't see the entire reverse of yours, but I would hazard a guess that it's a good match for the one on the right below....

...Which is not great news when you turn it over and realise the reverses shouldn't really match on items purporting to be made 40 years apart from each other...

Don't buy it mate - these are everywhere... and there are just too many questions surrounding them.

Starting with the fact that 'Snyder' sells 'em...
