Two different frames of '132' EKII's

    Hi all,

I just received what was described as a '142' EKII, but turned out to be another '132'. Do you agree with me that the frames are different, one from the other? The cores look exactly the same, a little more paint on one than the other, but still the same.

Yes the frames do appear different to each other.

                I thought so too Peter,

I was going to return it before I saw the difference. Now I'll hang on to it.

                Thanks,
                Robert

                  Hello

The frames are quite clearly different, but as you say the cores are identical. For whatever reason, could one maker ('132', Franz Reischauer, Idar Oberstein), have supplied the cores to another one and that you actually do have two genuine EKs, sharing a common core, but from different manufacturers?

                  Regards
                  David

It could be possible, David. But they both bare the '132' stamp.

Or perhaps Franz Reischauer bought in frames from another maker to overcome a manufacturing problem in their factory or to keep up with demands?

This would be my thinking. Or perhaps a new die? Now to figure out which frame was commonly used by Franz, if indeed he was supplied by another.

                          Hi Robert,
Here is the cross I snagged from Paul on the estand. I hope he doesn't mind me using his pics. I believe this one matches your cross on the right. (Not the cross from emedals)

                              Yes,

It does seem to share the same frame characteristics. I'll have to keep my eyes open for more 132's and observe which frame was used most commonly. Thanks for posting the photos, Adrian.
