    Hi Nigel,

    The wartime awards of Major Oppermann were sold around the same time I was able to acquire this group in late 2016. The wartime awards were sold by a dealer in Sweden as a group. Fortunately, I was able to get images of those awards. In that group he had wartime examples of both Rumanian awards. I will post those, plus an image of his wartime ribbon bar. Of interest is the different ribbon used on the wartime Rumanian Order of the Crown with swords medal versus what was used on his 57er produced medal bar. I am not versed in Rumanian medal ribbons, however it appears both types of the ribbon were used. Same thing with his wartime ribbon bar versus his postwar ribbon bar. I need to do some additional research on the ribbons.

    P.S. The post war (WW2) Hindy is definitely a rarity!

      Hi Jeff!
      The red and blue ribbon was for bravery, the blue and yellow, was more for service or merit, but not combat as far as I know!!!
      Both ribbons could be used on certain classes of the crown order, including the knights version that is on your bar, which is silver, and the higher officers version which is identical, but in gold!
      So the ribbon should be the same on both medal and ribbon bar, and, should match the wartime pieces, but, as often with the foreign awards, it depended on what the retailer had in stock!!

        Very excited to see this!

        I own many of his wartime awards + other items. Can post detailed photos, if there's any interest. There's no mention of his CCCiS in the wehrpass, only CCCiB.

          Both Groups are with WAF Members!!

          Hi,

          Very happy to see his wartime awards ended up with another WAF member!

          I thought it was interesting that neither a bronze or silver grade TR era CCC was included with the wartime group? Everything else appeared to be there. Including the additional TR era DKiG which was sold in a different lot with a few items. I guess the awarding date of the Silver CCC will remain a mystery of wartime.

          @Nigel: Thank you for the ribbon info, and as can be seen be should have the "bravery" ribbon on his post war Rumanian medals as that was awarded during wartime. I guess the other ribbon was what was available at the time of production.

                There is no Hindy in this group, we were just discussing why, sometimes, original medals were used on 57 period bars, rather than a new made postwar version!!
                It is often true of the Hindenburg, as well as the Romanian medals, and I was just using the Hindenburg as an example of this.
                Hope that's cleared up, sorry for any confusion!!

                    Hi,

                    One thing to note on the image (Post #18) of his TR era awards. The wound badge pinned on the uniform is actually his Gold grade badge. The zinc has absorbed the color. This is an image of the reverse. His Silver and Black grade badges are at the bottom of the image.
