The officer appears to have an HG cufftitle, and also appears to have a LW eagle on his cap, but it may be people from GD and HG mixed together at times.
I can't figure what type of collar tabs other than officers litzen style tabs would show up like that in a photo? They look rectangular and not like litzen, unless they are that blurred. Great photos Stonemint....thanks for posting them. A close up of that officer would be very educational.

2 formal shots of Rossmann posted by Schwerpunkt, most likely just after the award of the RK. I must say there are a lot more pics of him than I ever imagined when I started this thread:

This also appears to be the same group of HG men at Bautzen--here with a Polish IS-2 --note the officer in the leather panzerjacke:.

I am amazed that they were even bothering to take pictures at this stage of the war, and even more amazing is that the pics survived.
This is the HG forming up the day before the Battle of Bautzen:

And is this officer below the barrel Rossmann? (A long shot, certainly.)

Leroy, I would doubt it, only as the OKW complex at Zossen had already been overrun by the time of the Battle of Bautzen.

The Zossen communications facility was captured virtually intact on April 20, the day before Bautzen started. Where was Rossmann then?

I met Rossmann once in the 1970's & once in the 1980's. He was a pretty quite guy. He didn't talk much about the war. Got a beauty of a signed photo from him ! Tom

                            Tom--

                            Can you post your pic?

Also, did he say what he did after the war (and being released from soviet captivity)?

Great thread that brought to light someone I was not familiar with prior.

                                Another that popped up.
