Received a new cross today in this envelope. The envelope is small, 6cm X 8.6cm and is unmarked. The cross that came with it is a 55, but I don't believe that they started together as the cross has some oxidation to the paint and the package doesn't reflect any damage from moisture. Jim

There are tons of these with the flaps missing. The company sold them after the war and removed the packet flaps to hide their manufacturer name. When I was in High School, I could buy these Iron Crosses with ribbon and packet for $2.25. The kids in school wanted to wear these as "surfer crosses", so I would sell them the cross for $5.00 and keep the ribbon and packet. I have a good quantity of extra ribbons and packets to this day.
A few years ago I finally found one of these sets with the flap intact, and yes, they are all marked "27".

Here is my set. Unfortunately the packet looks to have been stamped by a bank or something. Is there any chance this additional stamp is wartime? I doubt it, but I hope a German member can help me with an educated guess.
Thanks for looking!Best regards,
