You lucky &%$#@!!!
Well Done Gary!!!
I've been going through a dry spell lately, but have found some wonderful items in "junk shops" over the years...just goes to show it pays to look, and even more to know what you're looking at.
I got some real satisfaction when I bought some medals from an "establishment" run by a rather difficult to deal with, grumpy...crook of sorts. He was sure he was putting the screws to me for the price. I bought everything he had...paid a bit "high" for junk shop prices but after researching the recipients (these were named Canadian/British medals) I ended up being able to sell or trade away the items for nearly ten times the purchase cost when I was ready to let them go! It would have been tempting to keep them...but I have pretty narrow collecting interests and I also need to keep my booze fund solvent!
Nice stuff...and congrats!
Cheers
Adam

Dear Gary!
The L/56 is good, there is some debate if this type WH is 100% ok, but I personally think it is one of two valid types.
The unmarked one which matches your second from the left obverse if I am right, is a fake though.
Still a good find, the L/56 is not to be found too often!
Let´s wait what Yuri has to say, he has spend more time with IABs than most of us.
Here is the unmarked fake you seem to have:

Here is a bronze version of that same fake. On second thought and view, I see some SLIGHT differences to your badge, like the circle the fake has around the particular hinge. Yours does not have it. Also very slight differences in the reverse wreath shape. Hopefully your type badge was the master for that fake.
A good obverse shot will allow better comparisons!

Here is a pic of the one in question. Sorry for the side shot, but I wanted to get this in now.Last edited by mott5ranch; 05-25-2009, 01:05 PM.
